John Conant was born on 2 February 1773, in Ashburnham, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Ebenezer Conant Jr, was 29 and his mother, Lydia Oakes, was 29. He married Charity Waite Broughton on 20 November 1794, in Ashburnham, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters.
