Antique French Bronze Clock, Circa 1860. A large and heavy French antique Victorian bronze mantel clock dating to the 19th century, circa 1860. The clock, completed in the Rococo style, is heavily chiselled and features scroll work throughout. The clock drum, houses a white enamel dial with hand painted Roman numerals and minute marks alongside moon phase hands and is decorated with an ormolu beaded rim. The clock is raised by scrolled feet and is surmounted by a classical style urn finial. The clock features an 8 day twin train movement striking the hours and half on a bell and is regulated by a countwheel. The mechanism is stamped by one of the most important and renowned 19th century clock manufacturers, Japy Freres having won a medal for that particular model. The piece comes complete with pendulum, winding key and bell. 34 cm high x 21.5 cm wide.
