Antique Clock French Boulle Kingwood Inlay Ormolu Large Mantel 19th Century 1860
Antique French Kingwood Mantel Clock, circa 1860. A fine and exquisitely made antique French kingwood and ormolu mantel clock dating to circa 1860. The clock, of serpantine form, is heavily inlaid with exotic woods and is decorated with ormolu mounts, raised on four scrolled feet and surmounted by a floral finial. The white enamel dial with hand painted Roman numerals, minute marks and outer chapter ring with Arabic numerals with scrolled hands.
The dial is protected by a bevelled glass door. The original mechanism is present with an eight day movement. The clock features a twin train mechanical movement striking the hours and half on a gong. The mechanism is stamped by one of the most well known 19th century clock makers'A. The gong, pendulum and winding key are present. 31 cm high x 17 cm wide.Condition: Overall, the clock is in good working condition. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a very good colour. Please note, whilst the clock currently works, during transport, all clocks are moved around a lot, and therefore, they may require setting up upon receiving them as well as the possibility of requiring professional assistance or a service as they can get'stuck'. There is no guarantee that the clock will work smoothly after it has been transported.
