Boulle Portico Clock, circa 1830. A beautiful antique French inlaid portico clock dating to circa 1830. A very large, rare and exquisite example of a Charles X inlaid portico clock comprising of exotic wood and ormolu. The clock demonstrates the finest quality of craftsmanship in chased and patinated ormolu and bronze.
The whole with marquetry inlay throughout depicting flowers and folliage; four columns supporting the central drum case with enamel dial featuring hand painted Roman numerals and chisseled ormolu rim. A large exposed ormolu pendulum swings side to side. It is very unusual to find a portico clock of this style in such a large size. The original twin train movement is present, striking the hours and half hours on a bell. The bell, pendulum and winding key are present.46.5 cm high x 23 cm wide. Overall, the clock is in good condition. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a good colour. Please study the pictures and ask any questions that you may have.
